I think poetry acts as a sort of diary for me. I don’t always know what I’m writing or why I’m writing it, but when I look back at it in years to come, it suddenly makes a lot more sense.
It started when my nan used to write to me. She’d post short limericks to me, and I’d send her a badly-drawn comic back. Eventually I wrote her a poem. It turned out, I quite enjoyed it.
I’ve dabbled in a number of different styles, but I always revert to free-verse as I find it the most expressive. I’ve self-published two books of poetry now, with a third on the way.
