12. Hell-o World

Today I woke up in what I can only assume was a doorway to hell.

Allegedly, the place I stayed was an operational friary, with actual religious people all over the shot. But there can be no doubt that, based on the intense heat I woke up to, either I had somehow been transported to Death Valley, Nevada, or my prolonged presence in a sacred place had torn a hole in reality straight to the depths of hell.

Or, you know – they have really good heaters.

The beds sucked though – my back is killing me.

Backwards

The morning was incredibly frosty outside (some might say the “polar” opposite of my room) as we wandered over to breakfast. It wasn’t exactly veggie friendly, so I was stuck with a couple of hash browns, some beans, an egg, and some mushrooms. But it was enough to hit the spot.

I quickly said my goodbyes to the team and jumped in a frozen car and zoomed home across a very beautiful wintery Kent.

The rest of the day was a very sedate affair. I showered, played games with the little one, cuddled, and ate cheese and chocolate. This is the real Christmas.

Plans

I still have none, really. Just a vague thought of trying to take it easy over the next week – maybe get a massage, or catch a film. Maybe both. Who knows. Tomorrow is a daddy-daughter day – so it’ll be nice to get in some time with the Little One.
