Case Study: Party Quest
MORE THAN PARTIES:
ADVENTURES
A mobile immersive escape experience for children’s events.
A narrative-led live experience combining tactile puzzles, theatrical performance and brand design.
- My ROLE -
Founder, Creative Director and Production Designer.
Creating a new type of Party...
I led concept development, narrative design and overall production planning. I designed the story world, puzzle structure and audience journey, oversaw set construction and visual identity, and managed touring logistics and delivery.
The project required both creative direction and operational oversight, including safeguarding compliance, performer coordination and booking management.
- The challenge -
Become the Birthday Hero...
The aim was to create a portable escape-style experience that could tour to homes, schools and events without losing narrative coherence or production value. The challenge was balancing transportability, safety and cost with immersion and story integrity.
- The approach -
Narrative Framework
I developed an original story world that structured the experience from arrival to resolution. Puzzle progression was embedded within the narrative rather than functioning as isolated tasks, ensuring story momentum throughout.
Spatial Design
The set was designed as a modular system that could be assembled quickly while preserving atmosphere. Visual identity, props and layout were aligned with the narrative theme to support immersion.
Sensory Integration
Sound design, tactile puzzles and performer interaction were used to reinforce thematic consistency. The aim was to create engagement through presence and participation rather than spectacle.
Production Delivery
I established touring systems that supported consistency across bookings, including transport, setup processes and performer briefings. Operational structure was integrated into creative planning from the outset.
- The OUTCOME -
Delivery & Reach
Party Quest delivered over 20 bookings in its first year, operating across private events, Scout groups and community spaces. The format proved viable within domestic and touring contexts without requiring fixed venue infrastructure.
Engagement & Experience
The narrative-led structure increased participant immersion compared to traditional party formats. Puzzle progression embedded within story created sustained engagement rather than isolated activities.
Development & Legacy
The project demonstrated that immersive experiences can operate effectively at small scale through narrative cohesion rather than technical spectacle.
